HomeServicesPlat of Subdivision › Golf, IL

Golf is one of Cook County’s smallest villages, a tiny, fully developed residential enclave surrounded by larger north suburban communities. With essentially no unbuilt land, a plat of subdivision here would be a rare, single-parcel matter such as a lot split rather than any kind of new development. Large new subdivisions are not a feature of a village this small and established.

What a plat of subdivision does

A plat of subdivision divides a parcel into lots, blocks, streets and easements in compliance with the municipality’s subdivision and zoning ordinances, then is recorded with the county. It is the foundation of any residential or commercial development.

Golf & Cook County specifics

Golf has roughly 500 residents within Niles Township in northern Cook County, making it one of the least populous municipalities in the county. Because the village is entirely built out, subdivision activity is minimal and would generally involve only an individual lot division. Any plat of subdivision must still conform to the village’s subdivision and zoning ordinances before approval. The approved plat is recorded with the Cook County Clerk’s Recordings Division, successor to the Recorder of Deeds since December 2020, which enters the new lot into the county’s land records.

Frequently asked questions

No. Golf is a very small, fully built-out village, so a plat of subdivision here would be a rare single-lot matter rather than a new subdivision of open land.

It is a recordable plat dividing a parcel into lots, blocks, streets, and easements per municipal ordinances, recorded with the county so each lot exists as a separate property.
